Your stories can become strength
You deserve to thrive.
Surviving domestic abuse reflects an incredible strength—and you deserve to feel proud of how far you’ve come. But your journey doesn’t end with survival. You have every right to rebuild your confidence, rediscover your inner power, and see yourself as the resilient, beautiful person you are.
We’re here to support you as you enter a new chapter of healing and empowerment. We partner with compassionate, skilled photographers who not only love their craft but also care deeply about the well-being of domestic violence survivors. They’re dedicated to creating a safe, uplifting experience and honored to be part of your healing journey.

FAQ

What are the first steps?
Start by filling out the form on our Connect page and sharing as much of your story as you feel comfortable. From there, we’ll reach out by email to learn more about your vision for your photoshoot and ensure we match you with a photographer who’s the best fit for your needs and comfort.
Will the sessions be outdoors or indoors?
That choice is completely up to you and your photographer. Once you're paired together, the two of you will discuss and decide on the location, date, and all other session details to ensure you feel comfortable and supported.
How long are the sessions?
Session lengths vary by photographer, as each has their own style and workflow. However, we ask all of our photographers to provide a minimum of 15 minutes— and you’d be amazed at how much beauty and connection can be captured in that time!
Will I receive the photos digitally, and will they be public?
Yes—you will receive at least 10 digital images that you’re free to use however you’d like. We simply ask that the photos not be altered or edited (such as adding filters) out of respect for the photographer’s artistic work.
Your privacy is our top priority. Your photos will never be shared publicly, used in marketing, or featured on a photographer’s website unless you explicitly give permission.
Can I bring others to the shoot?
You are welcome to bring a support person if it helps you feel more comfortable. However, the photos themselves are meant to focus solely on you—this is your moment to shine. While we recognize the important role that children, family, and friends may play in your journey, the mission of The Golden Hour Project is all about celebrating you and your strength.
