the magic makers

This organization would not be possible without our photographers. They are the magic makers, they look into a lens and capture the beauty that has been there all along. Through compassionate storytelling and empowerment-focused photoshoots, they help survivors rebuild self-esteem, restore confidence and promote healing.

If this cause speaks to your heart and you would like to volunteer your time please reach out.

Kayla Olson is a photographer, survivor, and the founder of The Golden Hour Project. Born from her personal season of healing, the nonprofit was inspired by her own photo session that helped her see strength, resilience, and beauty where she once held a negative self-perception.

Since 2009, I’ve been on a mission to redefine beauty through clean, classic portraiture. As a mother to two wild boys, I’m an expert at blocking out the chaos to focus on what truly matters: the human connection. My goal is to make every session a relaxed, low-stress experience where you can simply be yourself. I’ll handle the technicalities while you enjoy the process, walking away feeling confident, seen, and genuinely beautiful.

Since 2013, I’ve been capturing families through every season of life — from pregnancy and birth to graduations, milestone moments, and everything in between. I’m passionate about creating a relaxed, meaningful experience where women and families feel supported, seen, and comfortable in front of the camera. Known for my laid-back approach and natural light style, I focus on documenting authentic connection and genuine emotion in a way that feels timeless, warm, and true to your story.
